I have many friends and family members that frequently complain about the high cost of their health care and insurance premiums. Yet most of them are leading unhealthy lifestyles, a mix of bad diets, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, etc. There seems to be a big disconnect in their head between how they live their lives and how much it affects their health spending.

Sure, it would be nice if pharmaceutical drugs cost less, and if copays were cheaper. But it would be much better to not need either of those to begin with.
