https://github.com/Euro-Office

I’m not familiar with the project, but can anyone clarify what it means that it’s not intended to be used standalone and instead built into other projects? What’s the intention / expectation?

The project's FAQ are kinda enlightening: https://github.com/Euro-Office#faq

Your question is somewhat answered there: "What is Euro-Office?", "How does Euro-Office compare to IONOS Workspace, office.eu, the Proton productivity suite, Nextcloud Hub or XWiki?"

However especially "Why was a new office suite needed" is telling.

True EU sovereignty spells: the only requirement is, it must work "greatly" with MS. Oh well, in the past libreoffice and the likes mostly chose open formats as their reason.

If EU sovereignty means simply being a rip off, you get into trouble my friends. This is Chinas business and doesn't spell innovation nor does it mean optimism for the future.

You'll never convince companies and users to leave MS Office if they cannot simply use and open their billions of "excel files that should have been a database".

Ensuring that you can do exactly that means the barrier for switching is significantly lower.

> but developed to be [...] integrated in another product that handles documents, for example a file sharing solution, an online wiki, a project management tool and so on

It looks like it only provides the document editing part and you need an app around it to actually open the document from a filesystem and provide its content to this editing interface, and take the output and save it back to the filesystem? (Filesystem, or whatever persistent storage medium)

It's a WOPI app. Designed for embedding microsoft 365 office app in other web apps, but other people implement it. There's callabria, and this.

You'd use it to connect nextcloud to one of these providers. Probably some other enterprise apps I don't know about can use it to edit documents.

VS Code is built on top of the general-purpose Monaco editor component that's used by a bunch of other projects. This thing is basically meant to be the Monaco of rich-text.

When they don't even bother to make a proper example screenshot for their headline image, it's hard to think of it as quality software.

My impression is that FOSS people don't use Office software very much. So are they fit to develop Office software? You need to use something extensively yourself, or do careful and proper back-and-forth with real users if you want to make a quality product.

I spend at least 6 hours a week arguing with bots owned by other teams, as I’m unable to reach a human before I bypass their bot. 10k person company, clients are paying for my time.

I would be tempted to send my own bot to do that drudgery

Soon all communication will start with bots talking to bots trying to find a human. It's already happening with phone calls.

It may be that they’re protecting their time.

Right. Somewhere there’s a dashboard which lists those 6 hours as time saved.

They are, eng makes 600k/yr and I make 2, so their times is worth triple mine. It’s cost effective to make me toil and drown in frustration if it reduces ticket volume.

Just build a bot to bypass their bot.

Corpo bullshittery is the best kind of work. Get paid without actually ever doing anything. Its heaven.

Being alienated from the outcome of your labor is far from my idea of heaven.

Not if you enjoy making things and take pride in your work.

Actually having to work and take responsibility is extremely exhausting compared to corp life, I experienced both, I currently have no corp job, am responsible for a lot of apps and hate every part of it. Boreout is so much better than burnout and I never worked a job that allowed me to have none of them.

That's some odd image of heaven.

Agreed - this shifts large single time purchases into MRR which looks way better to investors.

Artists want to make art, not sit on the phone coordinating with venues, vendors, promoters, insurance, marketing, etc.

The venues have their calendars and capacities listed in the system. Marketing is direct to an established fan/follower base with known locations. Imagine if Kickstarter had the final destination of the funds, and customers of the products already locked into place before a fund-raise ever took place and thus known during configuration. Would make the entire lifecycle more deterministic.

I was thinking.. how can I raise money for 10 loaves of bread to distribute to the homeless? Well can't the bakeries at least be listed in the system too and shown during configuration?

But back to tickets - people can carry an inexpensive smartcard and use that to get in with readers. They could also print a qr code, or there could be a manual door list with id-checking as well. Blah, should I go on?

Classic dell to compete on tech specs, but miss the idea of what makes Apple what it is.

I don’t need a neo, but I would get one because the hardware is the absolute best quality, and everything works with little to no issues. I don’t want windows hello, I want the metal body, great keyboard, screen, etc.

I like windows way better than macOS, but Mac hardware only ever is comparable to windows surface for me.

A 30% increase in one year, across only 3 companies, seems like a of a stretch. Especially given current economic/etc climates.

> 30% increase in one year

30% above the average. Households bought $1.6 trillion in Q3 of 2025, for example. (Foreigners bought a further $650 and $700 billion in Q3 and Q4, respectively.)

American capital markets are ridiculously deep.

> capital markets are ridiculously deep.

American market valuation is more than twice the entire US GDP. So ridiculous is a good description of what's going on.

> American market valuation is more than twice the entire US GDP

Stock versus flow.

Everyone knows one is stock and the other is flow. It doesn't mean that we can't measuring the ratio between them. Actually, measuring ratios between "stock" and "flow" values is one of the favorite things analysts and economists do! (e.g., rent vs house price, P/E, fixed cost vs marginal cost...)

There is even a name for marketcap/GDP, Buffett Indicator. And historically the current value is very high.

7/11 has always had hot pizza, fried chicken, rollers, etc in my area?

3rd pvp round is 852 and seems quite difficult

Seems to be a fair bit of luck as to whether the boss attacks the same number twice in a row, or maybe it's based on who attacked most recently?

Fun! On iOS I can drag numbers into my battle team - it tries to refresh the page when I drag outside a very short range.

Edit - refresh fixed it?

I’ll solve the second to last one for you! I know multiple people who had Covid, and very quickly died, of Covid.

Are you sure you aren't "metabolically unhealthy"? Are you sure that if you happen to die, we won't find any "underlying health condition" during your autopsy? Are you fine with you death being dismissed as "got what he deserved"?

What is this supposed to mean?

Is it not self evident that the vulnerable tend toward being that subset of the population that, on average, suffer the most.

This usually means the very young, the elderly / frail aged, and those with co-morbidities especially obesity and immunocompromising conditions. There’s also a socioeconomic aspect, where as wealth increases health also tends to increase.

How do we slice it in these cases? Was it the virus that resulted in the worst of the negative health impacts?

I got COVID 3 times, was sick for about a week with a bad flu and then it went away. All my friends had similiar experiences. The only people I know that were struck the hardest were those that were obese and had other health issues.

Nobody deserves to die from the flu, but the flu doesn't give a damn about what you do or don't deserve, just about your body's ability to handle fighting off infections.

The flu doesn't care, yes; the question is more "do you?". Because, you know, the flu, or COVID, doesn't spontaneously appear. Every single person who died has been contaminated by someone else, who has some responsibility in it... Especially if they were flippant about it.

Something like half the population in the US is "metabolically unhealthy". Hopefully the new weight loss drugs will fix some of this.

You know what would help fix this.

Tapeworms.

Global fact: millions died.

Global fact most died from a related underlying disease and COVID simply hastened on the process. Actually killed from just this is way below the 1M mark globally.

Also we've now reached vitD in kids cereals and butter so you know, we know how to avoid this...
