Same day ACH: moving payments faster in the USA
I think some of the smaller banks still have people interacting with the ACH. At least that is my impression from planet money

The dates are probably hard-coded in Fortran and no contractors will touch the core of the banking operation with a 1024PB pole.

The language would more likely be COBOL.
