I went to a Slack workspace I'm in which has had WYSIWYG editing turned on and the first assertion in the article - about the non-closing backticks - isn't true. Since they turned it on last week I've had no issues with anything at all like this - I just type exactly what I would have typed before and it formats correctly every time.

Dealing with quotes is better, even.

Now I didn't need any of this, but it doesn't get in my way at all. In that regard they've done a far better job than Visual Studio, which I just can't seem to persuade not to insert random nonsense from time to time when it thinks it's being "helpful".
