Thanks for the vocab! I've been struggling with needing a word for this for quite a while, ever since I learned the origins of Roman/Greek columns and Chinese Bronzeworks (tree trunks and clayworks). Both retain unnecessary features of previous versions of the work for aesthetic reasons.
