VNC can be used to "remote control" a system.
NX can be used to WORK on that system.
I have written thousands of lines of code with NX, Eclipse and latencies of ~100ms! There is no way to do something similar with VNC or anything else.

I like how it can be configured to not completely take over your desktop; remote windows and local windows can coexist, like Xsession forwarding but much more performant.
