(Yes. Chess champions are stronger than ever, even though none of them have been able to beat a computer for decades.)


I don’t think the comparison is fair. Deep Blue was an opponent in a highly bounded game. Mathematics has no bounds, and modern agents are specifically designed and trained NOT to be opponents.
