Any time you say "adjustable" the manufacturer and operator only here "heavier" which translates to "more expensive to operate."

The manufacturers are willing to put in whatever seats the operators want, and airlines want to have the lightest, most compact seats possible because that allows them to offer the lowest price, which is what passengers choose.
